Lois Williams Papers, 1912-1980. 1912-1980.

The Papers consist of her high school yearbook (1912), personal diaries from 1921 to 1980 (volumes 1 through 12), a collection of photographs and news clippings from her Brazilian YWCA work in the 1930s and 1940s, correspondence (in Portuguese and English), and publications in both English and Portuguese, along with her passport and Brazilian identity cards, with instructions not to be opened "Until the Year 2000".

Lois Marietta Williams was born Dec. 13, 1893 in New York. She attended High School in Rochester, NY, graduating in 1912. She graduated from Reed College in 1916, with a major in Ancient Greek, and earned an M.A. in Sociology from Northwestern University in 1940, going on to a career in Sociology and Physical Education.
